UTLC ERA to start transportation of sanctioned goods through Russia

MOSCOW, Aug 20 (PRIME) -- United Transport Logistics Company – Eurasian Rail Alliance (UTLC ERA), a joint venture of state railway companies of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, plans to start transit transportation of sanctioned goods through Russia in sealed containers in September, CEO Alexei Grom told reporters on Tuesday.

“We expect to send the first containers in September. We held a large kick-off meeting with Russian Railways in July. We know that there is a government ruling that should regulate how this would happen, who would seal the containers, and how it would be reflected in documents,” he said.

UTLC ERA will hold marketing events in Europe and China. “That is why we are very interested in becoming the first company to provide this service on the cargo market,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier signed a decree that allows Russian and international cargo carriers to transport sanctioned goods through Russia starting from July 1 if the cargo is sealed and the seals can be tracked by the GLONASS system.
